Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road

It is not often that a drummer possess musical and verbal genius. Neil Pert is the drummer for the band RUSH and also write lyrics, so it is little surprise that his novel, Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road possess the same lyrical quality found in his music.

The novel starts out with a bang. His daughter, on her way back to college, dies in a car accident. A year later his wife dies of cancer. Heartbreaking, just heartbreaking. So he does the only thing that seems to have brought him solace: he takes to the road on his BWM motorcyle. His descriptions of his travels through Canada and the United States are vivid and magnificent. He weaves his family memories and band memories seamlessly with his stops in small towns, or sitting in traffic.

It is a journey physicall, mentally and emotionally. It is a beautifully written novel that will make you laugh, cry and appreciate the smaller things in life that we all too often take for granted.
